Design

Science tells us that the source our universe was a big bang. Awesome planets, beautiful places, expert functionality and wonderous things were forged by nuclear fusion inside the supernova of dying stars.

Good design consists of the awesome, the beautiful, the expert and the wonderous. And, like our planets, places and things, it's forged by a fusion - of ideas, content and strategy.

The sun is at the centre of our solar system, and craft and execution are at the centre of good design. Two graphic designers run Small Studio. Ipso facto: design is our cosmos.

Our approach is not complicated, but it's thoughtful, and thorough. We apply visual principles for clear communication and we produce unique concepts. Our work is great.

Key art

Employing creativity and design expertise, Small Studio can herd your visual assets together into effective key art. Once tethered you can confidently release your key art designs across all of your communications. Designing key-art involves discussing potential directions with the client, and collaboratively narrowing them. Once finalised key art is them implemented throughout communications.

Identity design

We design and evolve brand identities. The process involves discovery workshops, the presentation of a range of directions (not only a sense of logo design, but also colour, typography, imagery and other graphic elements). Once the final identity is approved we can also produce design guidelines.

Wireframes

Developing wireframes is the first step in caging the as-yet untethered beasts of your project into a tidy and appropriate visual zoo. Before a project goes into the concept development phase, we will produce wireframes for key screens. These will identify the hierarchy and layout of all information. Call us the lion-tamers, if you will.

Website designs

At Small Studio, we believe people 'in' cyberspace should be guided on their journey with meaningful, well crafted website designs. So we make them for our clients, and we build the websites too.

Your brief, strategy, identity and information architecture all inform the designs which will comprise a home page at minimum, and is often extende into internal pages.

Design guidelines

The challenge of going into new territories is alleviated with a handy phrasebook of the local lingo and cultural norms. Without these, we become lost, confused and can find ourselves in awkward situations. Design Guidelines form a handy visual phrasebook. They negate design 'faux-pa's and prevent awkward visual situations by outlining how your brand should be applied in a wide variety of assets.
